AGREE classification: A novel classification for adverse events in gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy

Question: What is the adverse events gastrointestinal endoscopy (AGREE) classification?

Design/Method: The study was done in 3 phases. In phase 1 experts completed a questionnaire about their use of registries for adverse events (AEs) in GI endoscopy. In phase 2 the Clavien-Dindo classification for surgical AEs was used to make a definition for AGREE. In phase 3 the validation of AGREE was assessed in three phases through an international questionnaire

Setting: The Netherlands, the United Kingdom

Patient/ Study community: Endoscopists, Endoscopy nurses, Patients

Results: The AGREE classification provides a standardized and reproducible approach to the assessment of adverse in gastrointestinal endoscopy

Commentary:

AGREE classification that categorizing adverse events (AEs) in GI endoscopy is a convenient and well-liked method of evaluation. This classification can make it easier to examine adverse events (AEs) across multiple endoscopists, endoscopy services, and interventional disciplines
